Creative Maker Supply Case

I decided to make this supply case for my niece for Christmas. She recently changed her major to Art so she needs something to take to class with her (you know, whenever we're back to normal) or to sketch out in the wild. She said she didn't want anything for Christmas but I was already dreaming about this project and hope she can make good use of it.

This pattern is by Sara Lawson of Sew Sweetness. This is a great pattern for artists, crochet/knitters, or little kids that need an activity or art case. On the left side is a pocket for sketchbooks, patterns, or coloring books. On the right side you can either sew in elastic loops to hold pencils, needles, or crochet hooks, or you can get creative and make some pockets.

I chose to use Tula Pink fabrics for this case as I feel they are very artistic and visually interesting. I added in some handles for this and used a rainbow zipper to go with the rainbow accents in the fabric.

This was a pretty easy sew. I was worried about the wraparound zipper as I had trouble sewing that in the first time I did one but I guess my skills have improved since then! Sara suggests adding some Peltex on each side for a more stable case and it really makes a lot of difference. This turned out better than I expected and I will definitely be making this pattern again. I think for realy little kids it would be a good idea to make a little pouch to hold the crayons/pencils and put in some velcro to attach that to the right side. This is a great present to make for the creative person in your life.
