Oxford Project Bag

I was searching for more project bag patterns as I think they will be a good seller for me and was super jazzed to see one from a pattern designer that I love - Kandou Patterns! I really like her style and this Oxford Project Bag is very similar to my favorite pattern of hers, the Kaitlin Crossbody. This pattern really fits well with the project genre as it has outside slip pockets as well as internal slip pockets. The outside slip pockets also allow you to add a decorative fabric as an attractive accent. The wristlet strap is handy for transporting the bag. Also, you can roll the top down to knit or crochet directly from the bag.

I used the polar bear fabric on this bag to give it a holiday theme. I had originally passed on buying this fabric from my normal supplier because, although it was absolutely darling, I couldn’t think of a purse to use it on. But once I discovered project bags, and that people who use these like to have special bags to work on holiday items, I had to track this fabric down on Etsy! I think it looks perfect here and works well with the pink and gold zipper.

Kandou patterns are really straightforward and clearly written so the bag construction was fairly easy. I made the medium size as it’s the most versatile for different projects. All in all, I really like the look of this bag and feel that it has some useful features that will make it sell well. This is definitely going into my product line.
