The Carrie Tote
Kandou Crafts is quickly becoming one of my favorite pattern designers! Her looks are always fun and stylish and her directions are always clear. This Carrie Tote came together so easy! I’ve been looking for a larger project bag that I can produce for knitters/crocheters who do larger projects such as sweaters and blankets. The last one I made might work but I really need something with a very roomy base. This one is very roomy when it’s complete so I think it will be perfect!
I found these cute fabrics with a bee/hexagon/garden theme that I thought would be striking for this pattern. It turned out great. I was able to find just the right chunky button at Joann last weekend so could finally start this project. I decided to add a slip pocket in addition to the zip pocket as I find that I use these more for holding my scissors, pattern, and crochet hooks. I think next time I’ll skip the zip pocket completely. I got lucky as the slip pocket is just shy of where I needed to sew the button on! I guess that’s why she didn’t have another pocket on that side in the pattern. I also had directional fabric for the base so couldn’t cut it on the fold. Instead I added a 1/2 inch to the bottom so I could sew the two pieces together.
